Sector 9 Longboard

Does anyone want a Sector 9 longboard? It's not very old, only been used a few times, a few pain scratches from going over curbs or whatever, but overall it's in good shape. Bearings, etc. are all practically brand new. Looking for $90 or best offer. Leave me a comment if you're interested. (If shipping is necessary price may change to accommodate.)

Keeping Busy

Work
So I decided to let loose and pick up 4 extra shifts a week at work for the remainder of the session...a 7:30-10a shift. Someone should really put a leash on me and keep me from making such silly decisions...oh well, money, money, money. I originally had a Sunday shift, too, but I loathe working weekends, and I was able to find someone to take it off my hands. Hopefully I'll have a fairly malleable schedule next session, too. Also downloaded a program to help me budget...we'll see how long that lasts, ha.

My Typical Weekday
Mondays:
11:30a-1p = Politics & Film
3-4:30p = World Religions
6:45-7:30p = Running
8:30-11p = Work

Tuesdays:
7:30-10a = Work
11:30a-1p = Politics & Film
3-4:30p = World Religions
7-7:45p = Rock Wall
8:30-11p = Work

Wednesdays:
7:30-10a = Work
11:30a-1p = Politics & Film
3-4:30p = World Religions
6:45-7:30p = Running
8:30-11p = Work

Thursdays:
7:30-10a = Work
11:30a-1p = Politics & Film
3-4:30p = World Religions
7-7:45p = Rock Wall
8:30-11p = Work

Fridays:
7:30-10a = Work

Dumbocrats

School
Learned about Jainism in my World Religions class today. In my opinion the people are nuts. The monks and nuns pluck all their head and facial hair out twice a year. Don't shave it, they yank it out with their hands. And they walk around with a little sweepy thing to brush things out of the way when they're walking so they won't kill any bugs. And they have to brush with the little sweepy thing if they want to turn over in their sleep, too. And it's considered a noble way to die when you become old and a burden to just stop eating. Starve yourself to death. Do it.

Life
Pretty happy with the way things are going. It's a brand new day, the sun is shining, and I have infinite options for my future.

Listening me some good classic rock right now. First it was some Doobie Brothers and now it's some Boston. Finally being somewhat productive in my spare time. Currently running two loads in the wash and about to get started on the dishes that have been piled in my sink for probably over a month. Then to collect the junk from everywhere it's not supposed to be that it is, stick stuff in the dryer, finally renew my lease, get a work order so they'll come fix my two leaky faucets,.... I swear it never ends. Then going to work out with Amy before work.

Politics
My grandparents send me email fwd's CONSTANTLY. Yeah, that's about the only thing they know how to do on the computer. What I wonder is why they feel the need to send me, for example, emails titled "Dumbocrats" containing Obama comics, etc. Do they think they're going to convert me? Bring me back from the Dark Side? Just wondering....

It's interesting to me how I'm fairly liberal in just about every arena of life, yet have these random traditional moments in certain things....

Ashley

Namasté

I learned today that I am Hindu and you are, too. Out of all the religions, I've always been particularly interested in Hinduism and Buddhism.

I don't want to die without ever seeing Egypt or without living at least a brief time in New York City, and again in Europe.

"'Fatima is a woman of the desert,' said the alchemist. 'She knows that men have to go away in order to return. And she already has her treasure: it's you. Now she expects that you will find what it is you're looking for [. . .] You must understand that love never keeps a man from pursuing his Personal Legend. If he abandons that pursuit, it's because it wasn't true love . . . the love that speaks the Language of the World [. . .] Don't think about what you've left behind,' the alchemist said to the boy as they began to ride across the sands of the desert. 'Everything is written in the Soul of the World, and there it will stay forever [. . .] If what one finds is made of pure matter, it will never spoil. And one can always come back. If what you had found was only a moment of light, like the explosion of a star, you would find nothing on your return.'"

Teefs Make You Smarter??

Life and Death
I have valium. Getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow. Scared. Ouch.

Piercings
I think I'm going to let my tongue web piercing close up. It's obviously not recommended to have metal in your mouth when you go under and have things getting cut up in there. They didn't tell me I have to, and I could just stick a plastic retainer in there instead.... But I might as well just let it go.

School
I'm so ready to be back in my own apartment, where I live ALONE; but not ready for classes to start yet. Sigh.

Normal graduation announcements/invitations are fucking expensive, so I bought some cute (cheap) cards with hippie-ish flowers on the front that are blank inside to send out. A little early still to be thinking about that, but I saw them, they were cute and cheap, and I bought them, so there.

Communication
Get cell phone upgrade soon. What kind of phone do you suggest?

Ashley

P. S. I Love You

  • Just read some entries from my old Livejournal. I used to be so much more hyper and obnoxious. Yikes. And I used to be even more naive than I am now. Can you imagine?...
  • I need some new music in my life because nothing I have is cutting it anymore.
  • I'm ready to be back in Waco.
  • I need to make money and stop spending it.
  • It's 2:04am. I guess I should be sleeping since I have to go to church at 8am and then hanging out with the dad's side of the family. But I don't want to sleep. Not that there's anything else to do.
  • I watched this movie today that was insanely good, although I bawled through the whole thing.
  • I found out today that this guy I made out with once that used to have a big crush on me is now engaged and has a baby girl. I think that's a first for me.
  • That's all.
"I had become to myself a vast problem, and I questioned my soul 'Why are you sad, and why are you very distressed?' But my soul did not know what reply to give."

Financial Planning

Current Balance = $1,441.77
+
Anticipated library income for May = $198.40
+
Anticipated income from Judy for May = $222.00 - $254.00
+
Anticipated library income for summer = $1,023.00
+
Anticipated library income for fall = $752
=
$3,455.17 - $3,487.17 by graduation

Of course...that's assuming I spend almost nothing until graduation....

New Job?

I applied today for a job as a psychiatric aid. I probably won't get it because they want someone full-time and I can't really do that right now, but if I did it would pay more than my library job and I wouldn't have to deal with moronic Baylor students every day. Here's to wishing, hoping, thinking, and praying. (Planning, and dreaming, his kisses will start...that won't get you into his heart!...)

Summer Plans

Readers
I don't think any of you read this anymore. If you ever did.But you should. Feedback is good and helpful and crap. So be nice. And read. And comment.

School

So I'm staying in Waco this summer, at Baylor. I'm taking 12 hours of coursework this summer. That means 2 classes per month for two months. That means three hours of class every day, Monday through Friday. That means each class is going to be an hour and a freakin' half long.

Work
I told my boss that I would like to work about 15 hours a week. I figure that sounded pretty decent. Since the job is through the school, the max we are allowed to work here while taking summer classes is 20 hours a week. I took a couple summer classes last summer and was exhausted, so I figured I'd better not push it and work the max. If it turns out I have a lot of free time, I'm sure people will be going out of town and making plans and stuff and wanting people to work their shifts for them. Or I could just work part-time somewhere else. *shrug* But money is money, and I need that.

Math
So I figure a week is 168 hours. Minus 15 hours of classes. Minus let's estimate 15 hours of homework. Minus 48 hours for the weekend. Minus 15 hours for work. Minus 8 hours of sleep, ideally, 7 nights a week, so minus 56 hours for sleep. Minus about 10 hours wake up, shower, get ready for the day time. Leaving me about 9 hours per week of plain old free time. Sounds like fun.

Ash

When the Tigers Broke Free

I met with a counselor at school today. The first seven sessions are free, and after that it's only $10 a session, so I figured why not. A friend of mine has been going for awhile, and she's the one that told me I should go and recommended the guy she sees. He's nice. I was kind of tense and awkward during our session, but I talked and he asked questions and talked. We didn't resolve anything, but afterwards I felt surprisingly relieved anyway. Like I could breathe easier, literally. I'm going to see him again next week.

Here's another picture of my Baylor ring, not that I'm obsessed or anything:

I'm going to have to send it in to get the year changed to '08 since I'm graduating earlier than I thought I was when I ordered the ring. I don't want to part with it. :(

In other news, I'm sick and it sucks. But Jesse babied me all Monday night, so that was really nice. I couldn't sleep last night, Lord knows why. So I'm going to take a nap now and then wake up and study for Research Methods.

Ash

The Great Indoors.

School
I had a freakout moment today because I looked at my syllabus and thought that my professor had his own personal grading scale and that I was failing that class. I sent him two desperate and humiliating emails. Only to find out later when I'm all teary-eyed and showing my syllabus that Josh that I'm a dumbass and totally not failing. In fact, it's just about certain that I'll end up with either a B or a C in this particular class just by doing decent the next, and last, few weeks of the semester. But seriously, I wish you could have heard the plop my heart made when it landed on the floor when I thought I was failing the class. Fun times.

For tomorrow I have to:
  • write a 10-page paper
  • write a 1-page extra credit paper
  • write 2 2-page extra credit papers
  • study for a test
Super awesome. I'm at the library right now, and I'm pretty sure I'm spending the night here, not only because I have so much shit to do, but also because....

Apartment
...my kitchen ceiling started leaking yesterday and my whole kitchen was basically a kiddie pool this morning. I called the office twice yesterday, and twice they said someone was going to come figure out the problem and fix it. I went to bed and woke up, and still nothing! I was absolutely irate this morning when I called the office. They sent someone immediately then. Now my kitchen is still a big soppy towel-covered mess, and they tore up part of my carpet and have a huge fan thing sitting in between my kitchen and living room. Oh, and it smells like freshly mowed turd. I took a picture, I'll post it later. I'm most pissed that this could have been fixed before it became a big deal, but I'm also pissed because all the pictures and postcards I had on the front of my fridge got wet and probably ruined.

Surely, there's more to write, but this is hardly the time.

XOXO,
Ash

Weekend in Austin

Went to Austin with Jesse Friday and came back Saturday night. Had a lot of fun. Met his best friend Tasha and she is a freaking hoot and I already love her to pieces. We got trashed and went to a strip club and there was a hot stripper but I'm way too shy so Tasha got her for me and Jesse gave me $20 for some chat time and a lapdance, haha. Awesomest boyfriend ever. And I met his dad and he gave me a hug when we left. :) Happy Ashley. Now I just gotta get my shit together and end up the semester with good grades. So...very...sleepy....
